Count the dice before the points
More dice create more ways to score. One die is the starkest case: under common rules, only a 1 or 5 keeps the turn alive. Five fresh dice can justify continuing with a total that would be foolish to risk on one.
Game position changes the answer
When you are comfortably ahead, preserving useful points often matters more than chasing the biggest possible turn. When an opponent is about to win, a safe bank that leaves you far short may not accomplish much. Risk is not automatically bad when the alternative is almost certain defeat.
Hot dice are an opportunity, not an obligation
Scoring all six dice gives you a fresh roll, which is favorable compared with rolling one or two. The points already accumulated are still exposed, though. If the turn has done its job, banking can remain the right choice.
This tool explains a practical lean based on a few inputs. It does not calculate every scoring variation or promise the next roll will cooperate.
