Check the picture
- No address, license plate, school name, badge, or document is readable.
- Mirrors and windows do not reveal something outside the crop.
- Children, clients, or bystanders are included only when appropriate.
- A map, weather screen, or screenshot does not display a place name.
Check the metadata
- GPS latitude, longitude, altitude, and direction are reviewed.
- The capture date is safe to share or intentionally retained.
- Captions, keywords, creator fields, and copyright notices are accurate.
- Camera and device fields do not reveal more than you want.
Check the delivery
- You know whether the service sends the original or creates a copy.
- The final exported file was reopened and inspected.
- A test recipient or second account received the expected version.
- The shared album or link has the intended audience and expiration.
Keep the original private. Make a separate sharing copy so privacy edits do not destroy the only complete version of a photograph.
Use judgment, not a blanket rule
A family archive benefits from dates and captions. A public marketplace listing probably does not need GPS coordinates. A working photographer may need credit and copyright fields. The right metadata depends on the purpose of the copy you are making.
