How to Change a Photo Date on iPhone

A wrong date can hide a photo in the wrong place in your library. Here’s how to correct it without losing the details you want to keep.

When changing a photo date helps

Older scans often receive the date they were digitized rather than the date the image was taken. Camera clocks can drift, and photos imported from another device can arrive with incomplete or incorrect time information. Fixing the date makes your library chronological again and keeps memories, albums, and searches more useful.

Change the date while keeping the rest of the photo intact

  1. Open the photo in Easy EXIF Editor.
  2. Review the date and time fields in the image metadata.
  3. Set the capture date and time you want to keep with the photo.
  4. Export a corrected copy, then confirm it appears in the right place in your photo library.

Editing just the date is different from stripping metadata altogether. Your camera details, image dimensions, and other fields can remain untouched unless you choose to change them.

Tip: When correcting an old album, use a consistent date format and time zone. A small mismatch can push a photo into the day before or after the one you intend.
